The Mandelbrot Competition was produced from 1990 to 2019. During that time tens of thousands of high school students in the United States and abroad participated in the contest. The premise underlying Mandelbrot all along was that problem solving is one of the most effective means for exploring the world of mathematics, and that contests provide an exciting and motivational setting in which to do so. Much of this website is now defunct, since the contest is no longer being offered.
However, the curious individual is welcome to explore the site: for a further description
of the contests see the Introduction page. A schedule
for the final year appears on the Information
page, while answers to miscellaneous questions can be
found at the FAQ page.
Sample tests, including all recently released materials from 2009-19 are
available via the Resources
page. (Or go directly to Samples and scroll to the bottom of that page.) |
